The Alaia - Autograph Collection

The first Marriott International Autograph Collection property in Belize, known for its elegant design, a focus on blending indoor and outdoor living, and easy access to the local San Pedro culture.

What We Loved:

  • Proximity to the Reef: It is situated just 600 yards from the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve, the second-largest reef system in the world, with an on-site PADI 5-star dive and snorkel shop for excursions directly from their private dock.

  • Unique Amenities: The resort features Belize's first-ever suspended rooftop pool and lounge with 360-degree views (adults-only). It also offers two other pools (total of three), a full-service spa, and a variety of room types including studios, suites, and spacious three-bedroom oceanfront villas with private plunge pools.

  • Dining and Atmosphere: Guests can choose from six distinctive restaurants and four bars, including Sea Salt for international cuisine with a coastal vibe and a rooftop sushi bar. The atmosphere is described as a blend of upscale, modern luxury with a laidback Caribbean charm.

  • Service and Local Charm: The resort is known for its highly personalized service via a Personal Concierge team that can arrange everything from local golf cart rentals (the main mode of island transport) to tours of Mayan ruins and rainforests.

Important Consideration: The beachfront area is relatively small and can be susceptible to seasonal Sargassum seaweed, which is common in the Caribbean. However, the resort actively cleans the beach and offers three pools as alternatives, and the proximity to the reef is the main draw for water activities.
